I am Kushagra Shekhar Kaushik, the co-founder and CTO of PYAAS, and I want to make an argument that sounds strange for a dairy company: our product is not milk. Anyone can buy milk. Our product is the ability to check it. Transparency, for us, is not a feature bolted onto dairy to help it sell. It is the thing we are actually building.

The difference between a feature and a product

A feature is something you add to make a product nicer. A product is the reason the thing exists at all. When I design the PYAAS system, I do not start from milk and ask how to decorate it with trust. I start from a single question: if a family scans this pack, can they independently confirm where it came from? Everything I build works backwards from that answer.

What the technology actually does

Every PYAAS batch is given an identity: the farm, the farmer, the collection time, the quality check, the dispatch, each step logged against a batch code. That code becomes the QR on your pack. Scan it and you are not reading a promise we wrote; you are reading a record we are accountable for. The technology’s job is to move the final say from us to you. You can see exactly how PYAAS traceability works, end to end.

Why we accept the cost

Building this way is slower. Keeping milk single-origin and tied to named Gonda farms limits how fast we can grow, and a record that can occasionally embarrass us is a scarier thing to ship than a slogan. We accept that on purpose. A transparency layer is only worth anything if it would reveal a problem rather than hide one. Today our ghee already ships this way; our milk follows in Lucknow from August 2026, on the same system.

Transparency is not the marketing. It is the engineering. And it is the product.

Common questions.

What does the PYAAS CTO actually build?

I build the system that turns a physical pack into a verifiable record: the batch identity, the farm and farmer data, the quality check, and the QR code that opens all of it. The technology exists to hand proof to the customer, not to market at them.

Why is traceability the product and not a feature?

Because the milk itself is a commodity anyone can buy. What PYAAS actually sells is the ability to check it. Remove the traceability and you have ordinary dairy with nicer words on the pack.

Does traceability slow the company down?

Yes, and that is acceptable. Keeping milk single-origin and tied to named farms is harder to scale, but it is the only way the record can be true. We would rather be honest and slower than fast and vague.
